HANDBELL RINGERS OF GREAT BRITAIN

This international ringing event is intended for advanced level ringers using staff notation in a massed ringing setting to ring large sets of bells and chimes under the direction of Fred Gramann. Rehearsals will run from Wednesday to Saturday followed by a concert on Saturday afternoon that will be open to the public Delegates are expected to source their own copies of the music repertoire. It is important that each ringer arrives prepared to ring his or her bell assignment at the first rehearsal.

The event will be held in the Holiday Inn Hotel in Sutton, Surrey situated in the centre of the town close to all the shops and restaurants. Sutton is between Croydon to the east, Kingston to the west, Wimbledon to the north and the M25 motorway to the south. The British Rail station is a short walk from the hotel and London’s Victoria Station is only 20 minutes on a fast train. Heathrow and Gatwick Airports are within easy reach. The hotel has air-conditioned rooms, a health & leisure club with pool, gym, sauna and steam rooms. There are parking spaces (daily parking fee applicable). We shall be using the Hotel’s conference facilities for rehearsals and the concert.

Attending ringers are asked to complete a Personal Evaluation sheet outlining their experience and proficiency in techniques associated with music making with handbells. The sheet concentrates on the most relevant areas to ensure the success of the event, so that all attendees can enjoy the challenge and the music.

Participants will pay a registration fee of £354, which includes use of a shared room for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights; breakfast, lunch, tea and coffee on Thursday, Friday and Saturday; the evening meal on the first night (Wednesday).

Single occupancy rooms are available.

A £50 non-refundable deposit is required with your Registration Form. Full payment is required by the end of July 2022 to receive your ringing assignment. Payment can be made via HRGB.org.uk/sales page (PayPal, BACS, debit or credit card.)

Applications will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis. Ringing assignments will not be confirmed until full payment has been received. You are expected to spend time practising your part before you arrive in Sutton – rehearsal time is for making music not learning the notes.
